Dan and Lorraine Gerds established PrintMasters in 1964. From the basement of their Warren, Michigan residence, Dan and Lorraine along with their three growing children, ran a successful part-time print business. Hard work, customer satisfaction and a practiced motto- “Quality is of the Essence” became the philosophy of running their business.

Retiring in 1984, Dan and Lorraine passed the business down to their son Jim Gerds, who worked alongside his dad while growing up. In late 1984, Jim who was 20 years old teamed up with high school and college friend, Laura Rumps-Carlin who also was 20. With $7.64 in their checking account, they combined their print and graphic experience to become PrintMasters Printing Incorporated.

In 1986, outgrowing the home-based business Jim and Laura moved the printing company to Eastpointe, Michigan where they established themselves in the community as a full service printing company. During the early spring of 1986 the 1750 sq. foot, rented storefront print shop caught fire. Family and friends worked together for days to scavenge through the burnt and water damaged rubble to salvage what they could of priceless files, customer artwork and damaged equipment. Customer loyalty, family and friends made it possible to persevere. Swiftly, PrintMasters rented a building in Center Line, Michigan and over the next decade in this location; PrintMasters continued to grow with their customers.

In September of 1997 PrintMasters purchased, designed and moved into their commercial building in Madison Heights, Michigan where they still call home today. Investing in conscientious and experienced team players, state of the art technology and high performance equipment, PrintMasters Printing has gained the respect to market, design and print for private and corporate America.
